A funding package is being supplied to the Colorado Department of Transportation for upgrade work to a section of I-25. The US$501 million loan is being provided by the Build America Bureau.
An 83km stretch of I-25 connecting Denver with Fort Collins will benefit the addition of express lanes. The toll revenue generated by drivers using the stretch will be used to pay back the loan.
Improvement works for I-25 will deliver better traffic flow and reduced delays for drivers once complete. However, the upgrade work has taken time and has caused frustration for drivers using the highway due to the temporary ramps and diversions along the route.
